Similar species: The forewing basal streak of Semioscopis avellanella is longer and stretches right to the base of the wing.

Forewing: 8.5 to 11mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, woodland margins, hedgerows and gardens.

Habits: The moth flies between dawn and sunrise and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Blackthorn, Rowan, Hawthorn or possibly Ash. It lives in a long, open ended, narrow silk tube within a rolled down leaf edge.
