Similar species: The forewing basal streak of Semioscopis steinkellneriana is shorter and does not reach the base of the forewing.

Forewing: 9.5 to 12mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, especially large woods.

Habits: The moth may be found at rest on tree trunks during the day. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on birches, Small-leaved Lime or Hornbeam. It lives in a long, open ended, narrow silk tube within a rolled down leaf edge.
