Similar species: Agonopterix alstromeriana has the dark suffusion adjacent to the red central marking reaching the leading edge of the forewing.

Forewing: 9 to 11mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, marshes, fens and sand-dunes.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in the spun or rolled leaves of willows and sallows. It pupates in a cocoon in the soil.
