Forewing: 5 to 6.5mm

Habitats: Woodlands and hedgerows up to an altitude of 300m.

Habits: The moth flies in the late evening, dusk and dawn and is occasionally disturbed in the day.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. The larva probably feeds on dead wood in hedgerows. There is a record of it being bred from a larva found in a rotten Hazel stump during winter. It probably pupates in rotten wood.
