Habits: The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a longitudinally rolled leaf or a spun shoot of Silver Birch, other birches or Hazel. On the European mainland it has also been recorded from Alder, Hornbeam and Aspen. It pupates in the leaf litter.
