Habitats: Gardens with the foodplants present, coastal wasteland, rough coastal grassland and coastal marshes.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the seeds of Common Mallow and occasionally Garden Hollyhock and Tree Mallow. On the European mainland it is also recorded from Marsh Mallow, Garden Tree-mallow, nettles and Pellitory of the Wall. The presence of a larva can be detected by a seed hidden by sealed down sepals.
