Similar species:

Forewing: 8.5 to 9mm

Habitats: Short turfed calcareous downland, dry acidic grassland, dry coastal grassland, dry heathland, vegetated shingle and disused gravel pits.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from short turf on warm days. It flies in the early afternoon and at dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded. On the European mainland the larva feeds on Sweet Vernal-grass, possibly in a rolled leaf, but this has not been confirmed. There are also European mainland reports of an association with Alpine Meadow-grass, Artemesia sp., Silene sp. and Dianthus sp.
