Similar species:

Forewing: 4.5 to 5mm

Habitats: In Scotland it is found on dry heath grassland and rocky areas. In Ireland it is found on limestone pavement.

Habits: The moth can be disturbed from the foodplant.

Foodplant: The young larva mines a gallery from the stem base of a lower leaf of Mountain Everlasting. It later mines through the margin emptying the leaf, which it repeats in the next leaf, lightly spinning the leaves as it goes. The mined leaves turn yellow-brown and buckle. It later feeds in the flower and seed-heads. It pupates in the larval spinning.
