Habitats: Deciduous woodland, orchards and gardens.

Habits: The moth rests on tree trunks and fences during the day. It later comes to light.

Foodplant: The young larva mines a leaf of Apple, pear, Blackthorn or plums. After hibernation it feeds in either a leaf bud, flower bud or the developing flowers. It pupates in bark. On the European mainland it is recorded from Hazel, birch, Hawthorn, Midland Hawthorn, Snowy Mespilus, Quince, Japanese Quince, Cotoneaster spp, Cultivated Apple, Crab Apple, Wild Cherry, Sour Cherry, Mahaleb Cherry, whitebeams, Peach, Apricot and many other fruit trees.
