Similar species:
Forewing: 6.5 to 7mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, river-banks and other sites where the foodplants are present.
Habits: The moth rests on tree trunks. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on White Poplar, Aspen, White Willow or Goat Willow. The young larva mines the flowers and seeds of the female catkins. It then moves to the outside where it feeds from a web. If not full fed when the catkin is finished, it may bore into a bud and consume the interior. It pupates in a cocoon spun on the bark.
