Habits:
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Alder and occasionally Grey Alder. It at first mines the leaves, then cuts a case. The third and final bivalved case is 12 to 13mm long, m.o. at a 45° angle. It makes several large blotches on the leaf. The species has a one year cycle in the south and a two year cycle north of the Midlands. It pupates attached to a twig.
