Habitats: Deciduous woodland margins, hedgerows, inland and coastal scrub.
Habits: The moth occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva mines the leaves or bores into the flower buds of Hawthorns, apples, Wild Cherry, Blackthorn and Rowan. The final trivalved tubular silk case is 5 to 6mm long, m.o. at a 0° angle. It overwinters and pupates in the spring attached to the upper surface of a leaf or a twig. On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Midland Hawthorn, Crab Apple and Common Whitebeam.
