Common

Similar species:

Forewing: 3.5 to 5.5mm

Habitats: Woodland rides and clearings, wasteground and similar sites where the foodplant is present.

Habits:

Foodplant: The larva forms a mine on a leaf of Rosebay Willowherb. It makes a pale, narrow gallery mine almost full of frass along the midrib. This may curve away and then return to the midrib before eventually opening out into a blotch. Secondary mines are sometimes formed on the same or in another leaf. The larva is yellow with a brown head, brown divided prothoracic plate and pale brown anal plate. It pupates in a dirty white cocoon in the leaf litter.
