Similar species:

Forewing: 8 to 11mm

Habitats: Open woodland and coastal grassland.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day, flies at from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the flowers and seed-heads of Goldenrod or occasionally Common Ragwort or Goldilocks Aster. It hibernates full-fed either in the leaf litter or in a flower-head, where it pupates in early May.
