Habitats: Woodland, hedgerows and sand-dunes.
Habits: The moth flies at dawn and from dusk onwards. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva is polyphagous on trees and shrubs, spinning the leaves of oaks, Hawthorn, brambles and probably many others. Later instar larvae have been found feeding on fallen oak leaves on the ground. It pupates in the larval spinning or close to it.
