Habitats: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows, orchards and gardens.
Habits: The male flies in sunshine while the female is easily disturbed in the day. Both sexes fly from dusk and come to light and sugar.
Foodplant: The larva is polyphagous on trees and shrubs and feeds among spun leaves or developing fruit buds of apple, plum, Blackthorn, oaks, Ivy, Holly, Yew, European Larch, Juniper, Mistletoe and many other trees, shrubs and sometimes herbaceous plants. It pupates in a spun leaf or in the leaf litter.
