Habitats: Deciduous woodland, scrub, hedgerows, orchards and gardens.

Habits: The moth flies in the late afternoon and again from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: After overwintering while small, the polyphagous larva feeds in a bud of a deciduous tree or shrub or occasionally a conifer. It later feeds on a spun leaf, or among spun flowers. Its foodplants include apples, plums, Sour Cherry, Black Currant, roses, brambles and Hop. It pupates in the larval spinning.
