Habits: The moth flies in late afternoon sunshine. It comes to light.
Foodplant: While small the gregarious larvae skeletonise leaves from below, the older larva feeds singly within spun leaves of heaths, Heather, Bog Myrtle, Bilberry, birch, larch, pine, knapweed, Wood Sage and many other species. It pupates in a cocoon within a spun leaf. The second generation pupates in the leaf litter.
