Habitats: Moorland, bogs, mosses, marshes, fens, rough grassland and damp grassland in woodland.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the morning (Scotland). It flies in the afternoon and evening, but only in sunshine.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a rolled leaf or spinning of the terminal leaves of Bog Myrtle, Bilberry, Cowberry, privets, Goldenrod and probably on other herbaceous plants (as it does on the European mainland). It also feeds on larch, spruce and pines in Scotland. It pupates in a cocoon within a spun shoot.
