Habitats: Open woodland, scrub, hedgerows, sand-dunes and gardens.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from late afternoon and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva at first occupies a folded leaf and later it spins the flowers and terminal shoots of roses. It pupates in its spinning or in the folded edge to a leaf.
On the European mainland Purging Buckthorn and Alder Buckthorn are recorded as foodplants.
