Similar species: Acleris effractana has a shallower scallop in the forewing and is usually dull in colour with areas of blackish scale tufts. For a positive identification check the genitalia.
Forewing: 7.5 to 10mm
Habitats: Deciduous woodland, scrub, hedgerows and marshland.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed during the day and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from a folded leaf edge, two spun leaves or the spun shoots of Goat Willow and also poplars, birches, Hazel and Alder. It pupates in the spinning, under moss or spun to leaves in the leaf litter.
