Similar species:

Forewing: 6 to 7mm

Habitats: Damp woodland and wet heathland scrub. Also the coast for Immigrants.

Habits: The moth flies around the blossom of its foodplant at dusk. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds within spun berries of Alder Buckthorn and sometimes Ivy, Dogwood and Honeysuckle. When full-fed in September, the larva forms a case from leaf fragments, which is attached to a stem of the foodplant or spun in the leaf litter. It overwinters in this case and pupates in April, although some larva do not overwinter and pupate in the autumn.

On the European mainland it is a pest when feeding on Grape Vine.
