Habitats: Damp woodland clearings.

Habits: The moth was last recorded in the Windermere area in 1914.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in the lower part of the stem and root of Touch-me-not Balsam. It overwinters from October and pupates in early May in the larval habitation.
