Forewing: 5.5 to 7.5mm

Habitats: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens.

Habits: The moth sometimes rests on a tree trunk during the day. It flies at dusk and occasionally comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in a developing bud of elm (the expanded leaves later showing an arc of holes) and when larger between two leaves in a spun shoot. It pupates in a cocoon in the leaf litter.
