Habitats: Conifer plantations, mixed woodland and gardens.
Habits: The moth flies around the higher branches at sunset and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the fresh shoots of Norway Spruce, Himalayan Spruce, Greek Fir, Scots Pine or Stone Pine. The inhabited shoots retain the bud sheath after the others have lost it. The larva pupates in a flimsy cocoon amongst the fallen needles.
