Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, hedgerows with trees and gardens.
Habits: The moths rest on the trunks and branches during the day and fly at the slightest disturbance. It flies around the tree tops at dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a folded leaf or spun leaves of oaks. It occasionally feeds inside spongy oak galls. It pupates in the larval habitation or spun up in a crevice in the bark.
