Habitats: Coniferous woodland, heathland and parkland.
Habits: The moth flies from late afternoon. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a silk gallery feeding on the shoots, buds and male flowers of Stone Pine, Maritime Pine and possibly Scots Pine. It pupates in a dense cocoon at the base of a flower near the larvas gallery.
On the European mainland it is also recorded feeding on European Silver Fir and Norway Spruce.
