Habitats: Woodland rides, damp meadows, ditches, marshy grassland and river-banks.
Habits: The moth rests on the foodplant, disappearing into the vegetation if disturbed. On rare occasions it will fly in warm, afternoon and evening sunshine.
Foodplant: The larva feeds (sometimes gregariously) from a silk tube under the epidermis of the rootstock and roots of Sneezewort. It pupates in a cocoon of silk and plant debris, amongst the roots or attached to the rootstock.
