Habitats: Rough ground, wasteland and road verges.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from rest on its foodplant in the afternoon. It flies from sunset until dusk. It occasionally comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds (sometimes gregariously) on the pith in the lower stem and rootstock of Mugwort. It pupates in a spinning in the feeding place.
