Habitats: Scrub, downland, heathland, moorland, woodland margins and rough grassland.
Habits: The male flies around the foodplant throughout the day in sunny weather. Both sexes fly at dusk and later come to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a succession of seed pods of gorses, Broom, Dyer's-greenweed or Bird's-foot Trefoil, feeding on the developing seeds. The full-fed larva of the second generation overwinters in a cocoon in the leaf litter or in the soil.
