Similar species:

Forewing: 5.5 to 7mm

Habitats: Old pine forest and isolated pines.

Habits: The moth flies around the tops of Scots Pines on sunny afternoons.

Foodplant: The larva feeds low down under the bark of Scots Pine. It can be detected by the reddish-brown frass in bark crevices in the spring. It pupates spun in the larval feeding place.
