Habitats: Coniferous woodland, mixed woodland and gardens.
Habits: It flies around the top of conifers during the day and night. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva bores into the unripe seeds of European Larch, Norway Spruce and European Silver Fir. It exudes frass on to the outside of the green cone. In Europe it is said that it may pupate in dead or rotting wood.
