Similar species:
Forewing: 4.5 to 5mm
Habitats: Woodland margins, scrub, hedgerows and gardens.
Habits: When warm and sunny the moth flies from the afternoon until dusk. It later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the flesh of Hawthorn berries, often spinning two or three together, with very little silk and adhering frass. The full-fed larva spins a cocoon in October, under bark, in rotten wood or within the leaf litter. It overwinters in the cocoon before pupating in early May.
