Habitats: Woodland margins and mature hedgerows.
Habits: The moth flies around the tops of Hawthorn trees in sunshine.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva feeds under the bark of mature trees of Hawthorn or those in old hedgerows. It pupates in the larval habitation.
