Forewing: 4.5 to 6mm
Habitats: Open woodland, hedgerows, rough grassland, green lanes, wasteground and margins of suburban land.
Habits: The moth suns itself on Hogweed flowers on warm afternoons while making short flights. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds within a few spun seeds of Hogweed. In October when full-fed it overwinters in a cocoon in the soil, where it pupates at the end of April. It may overwinter twice.
