Similar species:
Forewing: 10 to 16mm
Habitats: The higher slopes of mountains where there is a low sward of Crowberry, Heather, lichens and other high mountain species. It is also found on high altitude vegetated mossy bogs.
Habits: The moth flies in sunshine and both sexes visit flowers. They hide low down in the vegetation during bad weather.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on the terminal shoots and unripe berries of Crowberry, but has also been recorded feeding on Bilberry, Cowberry and Heather. In captivity it has been reared on Bird's-foot Trefoil. The larva may overwinter twice and pupates in a cocoon just above the soil.
