Similar species:

Forewing: 10.5 to 13mm

Habitats: Woodlands and hedgerows, especially those with pollards.

Habits: The moth flies from dusk onwards and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in a gallery under the bark of Ash. Its presence can be detected by the black frass pushed out from the entrance hole. It pupates in a cocoon under the bark.
