Similar species:

Forewing: 7.5 to 10mm

Habitats: Sea-cliffs, sand-dunes and vegetated stone walls.

Habits: The moth flies in the late afternoon sunshine and from dusk onwards. It later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on the flower-heads and seed-heads of Sheep-bit. When full-fed it constructs a dense cocoon in the leaf litter where it overwinters until it pupates there in late April.
