Similar species:

Forewing: 10 to 12mm

Habitats: Marshes, marshy grassland, ditches, damp woodland and damp coastal slopes. Also dry grassland and calcareous slopes.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from its foodplant during the day. It flies from dusk, but comes to light later in the night.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Common Fleabane or Ploughman's-spikenard. It overwinters while small in a turned down leaf edge. In the spring it feeds on the heart of a spun shoot. It pupates in a sparse cocoon amongst spun leaves.
