Forewing: 9.5 to 11mm

Habitats: Open woodland clearings, woodland margins, rough calcareous slopes, coastal cliffs and limestone pavement.

Habits: The diurnal moth flies in sunshine with a spinning motion. It has been recorded nectaring on low plants. It has rarely been recorded at light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in a flimsy web under the lower leaves of Goldenrod. The full-fed larva overwinters in a yellowish cocoon where it pupates in April. The cocoon is probably spun in the leaf litter below the plant

On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Michaelmas Daisy and brooms.
