Similar species:

Forewing: 12 to 14mm

Habitats: Woodland clearings, open unimproved grassland and limestone pavement.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Wood Sage, Goldenrod and Marjoram. It initially feeds exposed, later it constructs a portable open-ended case made from leaves of the foodplant or adjacent plants. It overwinters full-fed in the sealed case where it pupates in late April.
