Immigrant

Similar species:

Forewing: 9 to 11mm

Habitats: Any habitat, but mainly coastal.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light, sugar, flowers, Ivy blossom and over-ripe Blackberries.

Foodplant: The larva is polyphagous on herbaceous plants including Hemp Agrimony, Wild Strawberry, Hedge Woundwort, mints, knapweeds and burdocks. At first it feeds in a turned down leaf edge and later in spun leaves. It pupates in a section of rolled leaf lined with silk.

On the European mainland it also feeds on plums, Gypsywort and Viper's Bugloss.
