Similar species:

Forewing: 11 to 12mm

Habitats: Woodland, hedgerows, scrub, wasteground and gardens.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from bushes during the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The polyphagous larva overwinters in the turned-down edge of a leaf. In the spring it feeds from a folded-down leaf margin or the spun leaves of Dog's Mercury, docks, Common Comfrey, Red Campion, Ground-ivy, Hedge Woundwort, Yellow Archangel, Common Nettle or Hop. It pupates in a web in a spun leaf.

On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Colt's-foot, butterburs, ragworts, Elder, Ivy, honeysuckles and brambles.
