Habitats: Deciduous and mixed woodland, marshland and gardens.
Habits: The moth rests on tree trunks during the day. It is nocturnal and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on mosses on or adjacent to the base of trees. It lives in a flimsy silk web amongst Swan's-neck Thyme-moss Mnium homum, Broom Forkmoss Dicranum scoparium and possibly other mosses. It pupates in a tough cocoon disguised with moss and soil.
