Similar species:

Forewing: 7 to 9mm

Habitats: Woodland, scrub, grasslands and moorland.

Habits: The moth rests on rocks, walls and tree trunks during the day and is easily disturbed. It flies from dusk and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva probably overwinters while small. In the spring it lives in a silk tube amongst moss, feeding on Cypress-leaved Plait-moss Hypnum cupressiforme and Silky Wall Feather-moss Homalothecium sericeum. It pupates in a cocoon under the moss.
