Habitats: Grasslands, downland, sand-dunes, vegetated shingle, bogs, woodland rides and gardens.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from grass stems during the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from a silk gallery that is sometimes extended a few centimetres up the stem base of Wavy Hair-grass, Sheep's-fescue or other grasses. It pupates in a cocoon at or just below the soil level.
