Habitats: Dry grasslands, calcareous grasslands, grassy heathland, vegetated shingle, sand-dunes and gardens.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day from grass and bushes. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva lives in a silk tube at the stem bases of Sheep's-fescue and other fine grasses.
