Habitats: Woodland rides and clearings, marshes, heathland and wasteground.
Habits: The moth is nocturnal and comes to light. It has also been recorded nectaring at flowers such as Common Ragwort.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a vertical silk tube along a stem of Tufted Hair-grass, Hare's-tail Cotton-grass or other grasses. It pupates in a cocoon covered with grass debris in a leaf sheath or amongst moss.
