Forewing: 10 to 12mm
Habitats: Boggy heathland, moorland, mosses and other damp upland habitats.
Habits: The moth sometimes flies in a swirling group in mid-morning sunshine (personal observation) and is easily disturbed during the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The early stages have not been completely recorded in Britain and Ireland. It may feed on mosses and later vascular plants. It has been associated with Rusty Swan-neck Moss Campylopus flexuosus and Common Cotton-grass.
