Forewing: 5.5 to 7mm
Habitats: Dry grassland, sand-dunes, vegetated shingle, rocky coasts, sandy heathland, Breckland and calcareous grassland.
Habits: The moth has a flight at sunrise and is easily disturbed in the day from amongst short grasses. It flies from dusk after which the female can be found resting on vegetation. The moth comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a flimsy silk tube buried in the roots of a tussock of fescue and perhaps Sand Sedge or other sedges.
